The Evolution of Eyewear and Halliday's Retro-Futuristic Vision

Eyewear design has come a long way, evolving from a simple tool to an essential fashion statement. At Halliday, we honor this rich history while creating AI glasses that blend past influences with future-forward concepts. Our retro-futuristic design combines timeless style with cutting-edge technology, ensuring glasses look great and perform seamlessly in your daily life.

A Brief Look at Glass Design Evolution

The 1950s introduced the cat-eye frames for women, characterized by dramatic curves, while men embraced browline glasses—bold upper rims with wireframes. Hollywood heavily inspired these styles, shaping the glamorous eyewear culture of the time.
In the 1960s, oversized frames became popular with the Mod movement, featuring colorful, bold shapes made from plastic. The unconventional designs of this era broke free from traditional norms, embracing experimentation and self-expression.

By the 1970s, aviator, Boston glasses with tinted lenses became a staple, while geometric and gradient frames gained popularity. Round frames and bohemian-inspired tortoiseshell styles reflected a laid-back and chic aesthetic.

In the 1980s, eyewear took on a bold, statement-making role with neon, thick plastic frames and iconic designs like Wayfarers. Sporty wrap-around sunglasses also made their mark, combining fashion with function.

The 1990s saw a return to minimalist styles, with thin metal frames and smaller lenses. This era also saw a revival of retro designs, blending vintage elements with modern minimalism.

Drawing Inspiration from the Past and Designing for the Present and Future

At Halliday, we believe that the true value of smart/AI glasses lies in their ability to seamlessly integrate into everyday life. In this stage of development, we focus on creating glasses that are not only functional but also deliver an exceptional wearing experience. Our approach centers around three key areas: Frame Design, Ergonomics, and Technology.

Frame Design: Drawing inspiration from retro-revival concepts, we combine minimalist styles, classic Boston frames, and vibrant colors. Our goal is to offer customers smart glasses that look and feel like a stylish, everyday pair, normal to be worn in any setting, without drawing unnecessary attention.

Ergonomics: We place great emphasis on the ergonomic design of every component, from the adjustable nose pads to the angle and length of the temples. This attention to detail ensures that our glasses provide the best possible fit for a wide range of face shapes, maximizing comfort and wearability.

Technology: Our technological focus spans both hardware and software. On the hardware side, we’ve integrated the world’s smallest optical module, which remains discreet and consumes minimal battery power, ensuring all-day use. Additionally, we use ultra-lightweight frame materials that guarantee a comfortable, burden-free wearing experience. On the software side, we have developed a range of AI-powered features, including an AI agent and AI translation, that empower users with seamless, intelligent assistance in their daily lives.

At Halliday, we believe that a smart glass should first and foremost be a great pair of glasses. We aim to create lightweight, stylish eyewear that effortlessly integrates advanced technology, enhancing your daily life without compromising on style.
