Quick Summary
In situations where reimbursement criteria are met, Halliday smart glasses can support your use of HSA/FSA benefits.
- When equipped with prescription lenses, Halliday smart glasses may qualify for HSA/FSA reimbursement since the lenses serve a vision-correction purpose and the frame is generally considered part of the eyewear.
- To ensure a smooth reimbursement process, it’s advisable to keep your receipt and prescription on file in case your plan administrator or the IRS requests verification.
- Halliday can provide an official invoice for your prescription smart glasses to help facilitate your reimbursement submission.

How do I use HSA/FSA to pay for my medical expenses?
When you have qualified medical expenses, you can:
- Pay directly from your HSA/FSA card, or
- Pay out of pocket and reimburse yourself later.
Pro Tip: If you can afford to pay out of pocket now and get reimbursed later, your HSA money stays in the account and keeps growing tax-free, a great long-term strategy.
Both accounts allow you to spend tax-free on medical items, saving on out-of-pocket costs. Because FSA funds usually need to be used within the year, planning your purchases, such as prescription smart eyewear, is a smart way to make the most of these funds.
Can Halliday Smart Glasses be paid with HSA/FSA funds?
According to IRS Publication 502, prescription eyewear used for vision correction may qualify as a reimbursable medical expense. Based on this guidance, Halliday Smart Glasses with prescription lenses are generally considered eligible when reimbursement requirements are met.
Why they may qualify:
- Prescription Lenses & Frame. The prescription lenses are specifically for vision correction, which aligns with IRS criteria. The frame, as an integral part of the eyewear, is typically treated as part of the same reimbursable item.
- Other Accessories. Additional accessories, such as the smart ring, must independently meet the criteria outlined in Publication 502. If an accessory does not directly relate to vision correction, it may not be eligible for reimbursement.
For clarity on which components your plan covers, please check with your HSA/FSA administrator.
